I'm Rachael Maddux and I'm a writer and an editor. My essays, reviews, and features have appeared in The Oxford American, The Paris Review Daily, The Believer, Guernica, and elsewhere.

My work has been noted in Best American Sports Writing 2016, collected in Best American Travel Writing 2015, and is included in Scratch: Writers, Money, and the Art of Making a Living. In 2010 I was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in Reviews & Criticism.

By day, I do internal communications at MailChimp. In various former lives, I was an editor at the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine, an editor at Paste Magazine, a Girl Scout camp counselor, and twice a not-great ice cream scooper.

I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Now I live in Atlanta, Georgia, with a dude named Joe and a dog named Charles Darwin.
