I’m Rachael Maddux, a writer and editor living in Decatur, Georgia.

My essays, reviews, and features have appeared in The Oxford American, The Believer, Slate, The Paris Review Daily, and elsewhere.

By day, I work on the marketing team at MailChimp. In a former life, I was an editor at the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine and, before that, at Paste Magazine.

In 2010, I was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in Reviews & Criticism. I used to write about music but not so much anymore. Lately I’m more into mortality and childhood and family histories and small towns and sandwiches and dogs.

I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and graduated from Oglethorpe University. Now I live in a tiny old house with a dude name Joe and a scruffy mutt named Charles Darwin.
