Hey there.

I'm Rachael Maddux, and you knew that already.

My essays, reviews, and features have appeared in The Oxford American, The Paris Review Daily, The Believer, Guernica, and elsewhere.

By day, I'm a writer and editor on the marketing team at MailChimp. In a former life, I was an editor at the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine and, before that, an editor at Paste Magazine. I used to write about music, but not so much anymore.

A piece I wrote about Dayton, Tennessee, and the Scopes Trial was collected in Best American Travel Writing 2015. In 2010, I was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in Reviews & Criticism.

I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and graduated from Oglethorpe University. Now I live in a little old house in Atlanta with a dude named Joe and a dog named Charles Darwin.
